Science fiction writer Thomas Le Blanc offered the following tip: "The fundamental law of interviews: Only talk about the topic you want to discuss and pay no attention to the reporter’s question." This means: 1. Never answer a direct question. 2. Make your comments before you’re asked. 3. It’s better to ask smart questions than give dumb answers. 4. Describe the reporter’s question as a "good question" and change the topic. This may go well – but that’s not always the case. That is why we teach media training sessions to corporate and association leaders and make them fit for dealing with the press.
